Our Weekly Market Jersey Rose Veal is bred, reared and butchered at Kersdown Barton Farm where a herd of Pedigree Jersey Dairy cows are milked and for several years the Jersey bull calves are reared to produce Rose Veal.
Neil says, "We rear our Jersey and Guernsey bull calves to produce lean Rose Veal, instead of having them suffer the same fate as many other dairy bull calves by being shot at birth. The calves are reared outdoors in the summer in groups of 24, and indoor in huge straw courts in the winter in groups of 12. The are fed milk twice a day plus a heatlhy diet of grass, our own hay and feed to include all the nutrients they need. We have been given the highest award by Compassion in World Farming for our welfare standards."
