When Ennio Camisa set up his Italian delicatessen with his brother in 1929 he could little have imagined how the face of retail would change.
He opened the first delicatessen in Berwick Street, Soho in 1929 and was amongst the first people to pioneer importing fresh Italian products to the UK market. Originally he catered for the local Italian community but as demand for authentic traditional food grew so did the business.
Yet 85 years later his son is still running the successful business but has moved from a bricks and mortar retailer into an online delicatessen.
The company continues to be a family run concern, maintaining the tradition of delivering a full range of deli products, salame, cheeses and fresh pasta.
Their mission is to use their local contacts and knowledge built up through generations to source some wonderful artisan foods that you won't find anywhere else.
Over 90 % of the produce is imported exclusively from small family run businesses in the Italian countryside. One of their oldest suppliers, Fruttibosco is a small co-operative in the Camisa family village of Tarsogno, 3000 feet up in the Appenine mountains of Northern Italy.
All their staff pride themselves on providing a service that delivers high quality gourmet foods direct from the producer to your door.
