Alluvions Joe Chandellier, 50% Syrah, 50% Cinsault, young vines, sandy soils, organic and natural farming.

This lovely delicate little red (almost dark Rose) is made from organic fruit and fermented wild using semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks.  The result is a Beaujolais style wine from the Languedioc, exceptionally drinkable, with fresh red fruits, notes of garrigue, gentle alcohol and lovely crunchy profile.

This is the type of natural red wine for any occasion and any food, wine as it should be, without the fuss, chemcials and over-extraction.  Best served chilled in large quantities.

Producer Information:

Joe Chandellier- bringing youth, energy, and dynamism from the Languedoc. Based in St. Côme à Maruéjols, situated in the Cévennes part of Languedoc in the South of France, Joé carefully tends to 5.5 hectares of vines, planted with Carignan, Amaron, Grenache and Syrah, some of which are over 100 years old.

Before establishing his solo venture, Chandellier worked under the tutelage of Alain Allier at the acclaimed Domaine Mouressipe. Alain Allier is himself a disciple of none other than Eric Pfifferling of L'Anglore, creating a lineage of winemakers producing naturally made, soft, utterly drinkable wines that have a concentration, yet a delicacy to them.

In 2019 Joé Chandellier ventured out to create his first independent releases. He has a staunch commitment to organic farming and a dedicated approach to natural wine production, creating wines that truly capture their terroir. Such attention to detail and commitment creates expressive wines that have the utmost purity. The only addition is a small amount of sulphur at bottling, if absolutely necessary, ensuring the wines are as authentic and unadulterated as possible.

His range of red wines includes two blends, all involving Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and/or the lesser-known Languedoc grape, Aramon. Use of whole bunch and carbonic macerations, and ageing in fibre glass tanks, ensures that it's fruit purity and lightness that takes centre stage, almost defying the climate in which they are grown.  This year, Joe has added a white wine to his range.  It is made from 100% Viognier, naturally farmed on clay and silt soils.  The wine is direct pressed and aged on the lees for 6 months.

In our opinion, this young winemakers status is definitely solidified as 'one to watch'. Don't miss these fantastic value natural wines, which charm with their authenticity and easy drinkability.
