Wild and Game is a small, Bristol-based independent business with its roots in the British countryside. Their story began in 2017 when Steven Frampton and Michael Cannon, both game enthusiasts, started their business with the aim of introducing more people to this healthy, delicious source of meat, which is low in fat, high in protein and tastes great!
They wanted to do something about the fact that more game is produced in the UK than is consumed here, to use surplus pheasants, partridges and grouse right here in the UK and provide an alternative to UK farmed meat.
100% British Game is a healthy, free range and delicious source of meat, yet very little makes its way to UK supermarkets. Steven and Michael felt the problem was that many people were not confident cooking with game, not knowing how to prepare it. They developed a range of oven ready meats and meals based around familiar British favourites but using game as a key ingredient.
Steven says “As well as producing items such as pies, sausages and ready meals, we also use our excellent contacts with game suppliers to ensure we also offer a good range of ready-to-cook meat, from whole birds to mince and fillets. We hope that people who start with our ready-made products will find they enjoy game and want to start cooking it themselves.
Despite only starting up in 2017, Wild & Game are a growing and thriving business as their loyal customers enjoy what’s on offer and come back for more. Steve’s and Michael’s aim of introducing as many people as possible to the joy of eating meat that is lean, sustainable and in plentiful supply in the UK, is going great guns!
Their success is down to using the best dealers of British Wild game, animals and birds such as grouse, pheasant, partridge, hare and wild boar. The harvesting of game from the British countryside goes back many centuries when it was seen as a luxury food and priced as such, but game meat is now more readily available. Whilst it was for many years seen as a seasonal meat, the aim of Wild and Game is to dispel this myth by producing delicious and healthy products to be enjoyed all year round.
This is excellent news for our customers because the meat is low in fat, high in protein and tastes great!
