Morton’s Traditional is a fourth-generation family farm who care about nature, their animals and their community.

Their award winning turkeys roam large, open spaces and fertile green fields suited to their speciality of free range poultry and grass fed meats for the last 30 years.

Rob Morton’s philosophy of rearing animals slowly and with due care through the changing seasons is very much the same as his fathers and grandfathers. His Norfolk turkeys have been awarded THREE STARS at the Great Taste Awards 2020, which means the product was described by judges as extraordinarily tasty.

The judges noted that the turkey is “a beautiful, well-proportioned bird. The skin has cooked to a perfect golden brown. It was fantastic to see so much fat under the skin on the breasts, indicating a happy, healthy life whilst also bringing some unctuous flavour. The dark leg meat is also rich and flavourful. A first-class piece of poultry.”

Norfolk Bronze turkeys can be pre-ordered, with turkey breast and crown options for smaller Christmas gatherings.

Rob has the support of his three brothers, his wife Becca and a little helping hand from three young children – George, Sam, and Emily.

Their ethos is to remain small and focused on producing free-range turkeys and grass-fed meats to the very best of their ability with a commitment to rearing the best produce for you to enjoy.

The Key is a Stress Free Life: In early summer Morton’s Traditional turkeys move from their indoor home to roam freely outdoors, exploring the large open spaces and rolling pastures of the farm. They have access to as much food and as many naked oats as they please, which in turn will give them a lovely layer of fat to keep the birds moist when cooking!

The balmy heat this year has meant the turkeys have been heading out early at 6am and having a wander around the farm before finding cool places in the shade to relax. Rob makes sure they are happy and healthy, with access to all the food and space they need.

Supermarket turkeys would only be reared for a short time, but Rob Morton’s turkeys have more than double that time to grow, where they will be nurtured and cared for throughout their lives.

This results in Norfolk free-range turkeys which are a beautiful centrepiece for Christmas dinner, with generous quantities of moist, succulent and flavourful white and dark meat. The Norfolk turkeys are slow-maturing birds that have a slightly stronger and gamier flavour ranging in weight from 4.5kg to 10kg. Turkey breast joints and crown joints are also options for smaller numbers or those that prefer the white meat only.

Everything Rob does is free-range, outdoor reared and fresh, to the best welfare standards possible, meaning you can enjoy the best possible flavour from your turkey on Christmas Day.
