More Info: Sarah Jane and the team at Porcus keep rare breed pigs (some Tamworths, Saddlebacks, Mangalitza and a few Iron Age pigs). Because they farm the pork themselves, to the highest welfare standards they are in control from start to finish which is very important to Porcus who believe that animals who are reared for our plates whould be afforded the best life possible.
They slow grow them, free range on their own pasture and allow them to do all the things pigs love to do in the beautiful outdoors of the Pennines.
Living in the fresh Yorkshire air is great for the pigs – but it brings challenges for farmers that the intensive units don’t have. That said – the end result makes those challenges truly worth it! Porcus produce a range of charcuterie, Artisan sausages and a range of ready made meals with a difference.
