Haddock Fillet Skinned (Serves 4 People)
We buy from the boats fishing locally in our unpolluted Atlantic waters, so quality fish is processed and on its way to the customer within a day of being caught; we never buy cheaper, aged fish from huge refrigerated boats which land catches from Icelandic and other distant waters.
On the north-west coast of Scotland, a stunning string of white sandy beaches, leads up to Andy Race Fish Merchants at Mallaig.
Mallaig is an important fishing port landing close to £10m of fish and seafood per year and the largest prawn landing port in Europe. However, the town of Mallaig is small with a population of only 1000 people. Hence, the road to Mallaig from Fort William was originally a single-track road until relatively recently.
Thankfully for Andy and his great tasting fish, the road was made into a double track road around 20 years ago!
This is great news for Andy’s mail order business. His post lady comes to deliver the Mallaig post in the morning. When she finishes at 11am, she collects Andy’s chilled fish parcels and takes them to the Parcel Force lorry waiting in Fort William.
Fish Parcel then go to Perth and can be anywhere in the UK within a few hours, and on your doorstep within 24 hours. We think this is truly amazing given the location of Andy Race Fish Merchants.
