Duchess de Bourgogne
This Flemish red from Verhaeghe is truly unique. The amber beer is brewed in the normal fashion and then put into oak barrels for many years to take on that oak character and turn slowly sour. It has a wonderful oak and cherry aroma, with a hint of balsamic vinegar. It starts beautifully sweet and melts away into a soft, sour cherry-like beer known as a Flemish Red.

Best known for its strong ale Delirium Tremens, which is so omnipresent that people think it is the name of the brewery not the beer. Dry like champagne but bittersweet and spicy at the same time, it has won best beer in the world as well as countless other awards since first being brewed in the 1980s and its success has made the brewery part of beer culture everywhere from China to Brazil.
Now brewing tens of beers under different brands, the brewers at Huyghe are experts in making easy drinking but full flavoured beers whether it's the fruit-based Floris beers, the Abbey blonde Averbode or the gluten-free Mongozo beers.
